COMPUTER LESSON IN PRIMARY SCHOOL
In January, our children visited elementary school in order to integration and presentation media literacy among young children.
Our children were excited about visiting school, because next year they are entering the 1st grade.
In cooperation with IT teacher we have planned to connect children different ages and also present our project Fair@Kit to students from primary school.
Students from 9th grade accept us and every student take one child and take a responsibility for him.
First, they took us around the school and we have stopped in 1st grade, where we attended a short part of their program.
Then we went to computer class, where we introduced ourselves to each other. I presented what we do in our Fair@Kit project and why we came to school on computer lesson.
Children in pairs (student and toddler) sat to each available computer. Older children guided younger ones with the operations on the computer and learn them how to use mouse.
Children were dealing with a range of mathematical functions and learning meaningful use of computer.
Children really enjoyed at working on computer, so we extended the period of activity. At the end, we have invited them to visit the nursery. We also presented the activities undertaken as part of media education (playing variety of non-violence scenes with puppets, e-mailing with friends from another unit, rules of good behavior…)
It was interesting to observe how students seriously and responsible took care for our little ones, how they sipped knowledge through media to acquire new skills and knowledge.
The children were excited about visit school and their impressions were lasting for a few days.

Walburgisschule took part in a German-wide IT-competition

Our forth grades took part in a national computer science competition which was offered for primary schools for the first time. The "Primary-school-beaver" shows that IT-science and the related digital thinking is already accessible for younger children. For our school it is particularly important to take part in this contest as it underlines the reasonable use of the computer as a medium. Our colleagues Ursula Schnittger and Ruth Schulte-Düser worked with their classes on this project and the children have been very enthusiastic according to the topic.

HOW TO MAKE A STOP MOTION ANIMATION
WORKSHOP REPORT

On Tuesday, 22th of November 2016 I introduced my co-workers from kindergarten Medvode the concept of "animation" and computer program iSkysoft Video Editor to create a short stop motion animation. Animation is a process of making the illusion of motion by means of the rapid display of a sequence of images (in this case photos), which is slightly different from each other. Stop motion animation is a technique where you physically manipulate the object so that it appears to move on its own.
With the help of YouTube website I showed them videos what what kind of different options we have to use stop motion techniques. We can use shadow dolls, Legos, instruments, our own body, plasticine and many more.
The first phase of making animation, was the idea. Colleagues had ten minutes to find from the playing cabinet items and toys which were manipulated. They picked wooden figures and wooden blocks. For the production we needed a camera, a tripod and a reflector. The idea was to make an animation showing the danger at the train station. After setting the scene, we began the next phase-shooting. While moving figures was made about a hundred photos.
Photos were downloaded to a computer. I presented them the program iSkysoft Video Editor where we edited the animation. We wanted that each photo is shown for a tenth of a second on the scene. We made a minute long animation but the sound was still missing. We have used sound effects from the program and the animation became more lively.
The respond from my co-workers has been positive. Such work is precise and time-consuming, furthermoren, you have to be skilled in using computer and computer programes. If you like to make such animation with children it would take you  few months to do it, but the final product would be invaluable for them.
